Measure your locker before you buy
Schools rarely print locker dimensions on the supply list, so the tape measure is your friend. Three readings are enough.
Width, wall to wall
Open the door fully and measure the inside from the left wall to the right wall. Do it halfway up, where a shelf would sit. Standard lockers come in at 12 inches, wider ones at 15. Our tension shelves stretch across that range.
Height, floor to ceiling
Measure from the locker floor to the underside of the built-in top shelf if there is one. A Stac-A-Shelf needs 12 inches of clear height per level, so this number tells you whether one or two will fit.
Depth, back to door
Depth matters for anything that sits flat. Check that the door closes over the shelf with books on it, and remember door accessories take up a little room on the inside.
Write it on the supply list
Put all three numbers on the same paper as the supply list. You will need them again when you buy a kit or a second shelf later in the year.
